SCHOLARSHIPS

TransCultural Exchange would like to offer all artists the possibility to attend our Conferences. We, therefore, offer need-based scholarships based on income, which are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition, artists from populations long marginalized in the art world are also offered scholarships.

Application Details:

  • A photo or scan of a government official ID
  • An explanation of why you are applying for this funding (no more than 200 words)
  • A confirmation that the applicant has no other means to participate in the Conference
  • Your email address
  • Please email these materials to conference(at)transculturalexchange.org with the subject line of “Scholarship Request” or mail the same to TransCultural Exchange at 300 Summer Street, Unit 36, Boston, MA 02210.
  • Applications for scholarships are due December 5, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Eligible candidates must be LGBTQ+, Black or African American, Asian, Native American, Alaska Native, Canadian First Peoples, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander or Other Marginalized Group

OR

  • Demonstrate a financial need, meaning that they make under $35,000 in taxable income a year.
  • No funding from other sources to support the Conference attendance.

Information about Funding

  • At least 30 grants in total will be awarded.
  • The majority of the grants will be for a $235 reduction off the early-bird Conference rate. The full Conference cost for such awardees, then, will be $50 for all 3 days. (Note: Portfolio reviews and gala ticket costs are separate costs and are not covered by these scholarships.)
  • Grantees will then have up to January 20, 2025, to take advantage of the grant offer and to pay the balance due

IMPORTANT Other funding sources to consider: Attending a Conference, where you will improve your marketing and fundraising skills, learn of opportunities to advance your career and meet people who run programs to support your work, are all part of an artist’s professional development and many states and cities have grants to support this. For instance, the City of Boston offers professional development funds to support your conference registration and portfolio reviews.
