Women's Art Register • Melbourne, Australia • http://www.womensartregister.org/
The Women’s Art Register is Australia’s living archive of women’s art practice (which is non-binary and trans inclusive), operating since 1975 as a National, Artist-Run and Not-for-Profit community and resource.
The Women’s Art Register is a unique archive that houses the documentation of over 5000 Australian and International artists from over two centuries, including images, catalogues, posters, books and ephemera. The collection is available for research and education for artists, curators, students, teachers, researchers, institutions and the general public. Since 1975 the Women’s Art Register has provided an inclusive, independent platform for research, education, advocacy and support for its members and the Arts, Education and GLAM sectors, enhancing the status of women artists and addressing issues of equity, professional practice and cultural heritage. We produce a bi-annual magazine The Bulletin, and hold regular events including exhibitions, discussions, and educational presentations that advocate for women artists in the public realm. Our current public programming includes an Artist-In-Residence program, Art+Feminism Edit-a-thons, collaborative publishing, and online programming. The Women's Art Register has for over forty years shown a deep commitment and belief in the artistic and cultural work by women and its value for all Australians. It is entirely artist-run and volunteer based and welcomes new members, volunteers, interns and global relationships.
