B’Art Contemporary • Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic • http://bishkekart.kg
To establish Contemporary Art and Culture in Kyrgyzstan as a platform supporting creative interaction, collaboration and the generation of new media as well as forging intercultural connections between artists and societies in both Central Asia and internationally.
Officially opened in 2007, Б’Art developed, managed and co-facilitated a number of initiatives that present an alternative view of contemporary art beyond the approach of the traditional cultural perspective that art only includes paintings and drawings, and merely has aesthetic value in society. As a pioneer, Б’Art has led the way in coordinating a host of activities, projects and programs to develop the role of contemporary art across many sectors of society, while fostering opportunities for veteran and young artists so talented children to exchange ideas and work together. From 2007 to 2011, there were held more than 50 national and international exhibitions, seminars, and workshops in Bishkek and Osh cities and exchange projects in Germany and Japan. Since 2011 artists, curators, and researchers from different countries have been invited to join the Nomadic Art Camp. The project, continuing to this day, focuses on the relationship between art and the political, economic and social processes at the intersection of issues of globalization, identity, ecology, philosophy, and modernity, as well as their impact on local and global culture and destiny of future generations.
