Dover Arts Development (DAD) • Dover, UK • https://www.dadonline.uk
As a cultural producer DAD acts as a catalyst for cultural/artistic activity, developing long-term relationships that nurture inclusive cultural partnerships, inspiring an arts and cultural approach to building community resilience and nurturing the talent in individuals.
We are committed to producing contemporary art of excellence, supporting artists’ practice, initiating cultural activity and feeding into Dover’s economy. We aim, with values of inclusiveness, thoughtful partnership and emotional responsibility, to strengthen communities and widen perspectives through creative thinking and actions.’ Dover Arts Development (DAD) is an artist-led not for profit company that functions as a collaborative, porous framework within which its artist directors conceive, manage & deliver ambitious projects within the visual arts, poetry & music. Its founder directors, Clare Smith and Joanna Jones, are practicing artists acting outside and within this framework. Since May 2020 the DAD Artists at Home project is supporting DAD’s community of contributors during the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, by providing digital outlets and links to what other DAD contributors are working on and dealing with as well as promoting their activities. Through its projects and residencies, over the last 12 years, DAD has cultivated a significant network of over 150 contributors in and beyond Dover, a growing collection of voices + practices who all actively sit within DAD’s history and continue to shape its porous collaborative structure.
