EDLIPTIC consists of a hand-blown sphere of glass (with a mold-induced involute spiral pattern) that sits atop a very slowly rotating pedestal, so that the 3 single-point light sources shine through the rotating glass to project optical phenomena onto a translucent flat glass screen in front.
Peter Houk is the director of MIT’s Glass Lab and has designed and executed commissions internationally with his work being held in many collections, including the Corning Museum of Glass and The Museum of American Glass at Wheaton Village.
