Tile Photos from the Frederick Douglas Senior Center
Frederick Douglass Senior Center is located in a lower working class community on the Upper West Side of New York City. It has a population of 1300 multi ethnic seniors in Douglass Houses and many more seniors in the surrounding community. The seniors gather two times per week for ceramics and work on individual and group projects. This special ceramics tile project involved twenty-one seniors and enhanced their daily life through group creativity. Several of the seniors emphasized the spirit of their community in the tile.
