Francie Hester

Francie Hester’s work as a painter reflects a lifelong engagement with issues of individuality
and shared spirit. She is particularly interested in the events that test our visions and
ourselves, and with social issues and the ethical and moral principles through which we view
them. Her works are in numerous collections, including the World Bank and National Institutes
of Health. She has received grants from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities
and the Arts Council of Montgomery County, MD. In 1996 the Ginetta Sagan Fund (Amnesty
International) commissioned her to create a piece.

About the tiles:
“Identities,” contemplates the potential of the individual spirit. This works consists of multi-colored
fingerprints/color circles that portray the significance of each individual, each color, each culture and our
cultural differences.
