The Boston-based organization TransCultural Exchange is proud to present Mechanical Universe, Part 1: The Pastoral, as part of the Boston Cyberarts Festival. Mechanical Universe was created for this purpose: Punzo shipped his cyber insects to the Boston, where Sherman created their living spaces, part irreverent homage to Donald Judd; part reverent homage to Jean Tinguely and Alexander Calder. But pure Punzo and Sherman.

Sherman would like to thank George Bossarte for help with the electrical controls and William Stephens and Peter Lindenmuth for use of legendary Nexus Machine Shop and their invaluable suggests while there. It also was there that Lindenmuth came up with the idea for his addition to the show: Gotcha, a fanciful bug-catcher.

Past projects by this maverick non-profit TransCultural Exchange have included: The Coaster Project, Destination: The World for which artist-made coasters were exhibited and then distributed at sites from Antarctica to Finland; and The Tile Project, Destination: The World which united the world with 22 international installations of tiles by more than 100 artists.
